How much does it cost to repair a crankshaft pulley and harmonic balancer for a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport V6 3.5L engine

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport with 88,300 miles V6 3.5L engine and I was just
told I need to have the crankshaft pulley and harmonic balancer replaced. Is this common
at this mileage? What is an approximate cost to fix it? And is it worth it since the vehicle is
13 years old. I haven't had any other problems with it till now. Thanks.

I bought my 03 sport for 500$ because the balancer bolt broke. Took a week to find the part online from the east caost 20 min to tap out the broken bolt and one new a.c. belt total was less than 40$ and 5 hours of my time taking the radiator and fan off im no mechanic but it wasnt that hard to fix

Why do you have to replace them ? It's not common unless something broke like the crank pulley pinned sheared off. These parts are available at the dealers. The HB is available at Auto zone or ???? I prefer to go to pick a part and expose these parts and dismantle. It will cost about forty bucks compared to over 200 hundred at dealer, It is good practice to dismantle a pick a part car instead off destroying yours trying to learn a big project. i live in Orange County, CA and there are a lot of pick a part stores within 50 miles.
