Coolant and engine light

My engine coolant light came on today, yet I have
plenty of coolant. I reset it to see if it would come
back on. My engine light then came on. I turned my
car off let if cool down. I then turned it back on and
it didn't want to start. I waited a few minutes, it then
cranked but was ready to cut off any second.
