Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So i have a 96 audi a4 2.8 that has no spark, i have
replaced coil pack, plugs, wires and battery. Engine
turns but will not start. I have ordered the crank
position sensor but not sure thats the problem.
What could cause no spark?

On and Audi, could be bad crank sensor, but im thinking could be anti theft,or ECM issue,is engine light on?

Note:the vehicle started the day before it started to not start. It ran ok-ish but in the past it has had issues starting. The crank sensor is worn as if something was grinding it down.

OK,good to know this info,it just may be the crank sensor that is bad,but from what you said, you may need to check the harmonic balancer to,sounds like it may be bad wobbling causing it to grind agaisnt the harmonic pulley.

There is no check engine lights, when it ran there was no vibration in the engine. It didnt give me this issue until i replaced the serpentine belt. It acts as if it wants to start, but theres no combustion. I checked the fuel pump, it is functioning, i checked the injectors amd they are working. So im assuming its either a sensor or a bad ecm.

Timing belt is good, just replaced the crank sensor still no go. Although i did notice thT the cM sensor isnt putting out adequate voltage. Ive checked the continuity and got no signal. Voltage reads under 6 volts, reads under 2k ohms with sporadic jumps in numbers

Lol.... Find ur fuse box n should be located inside car driver side.... Find ignition fuse or something like that should be yellow 20 amp fuse check N replace it cause anytime u mess with coil or or spark plugs a bad coil harness could activate ur car safety mode which automatic blows ur ignition fuse up rather then blowing ur engine lol it is possible lmk know if u found it

I havent replaced the icm or cam shaft sensor yet. I have already checked timing components

Ive checked the wires going into the icm and theres a signal. I plug the icm in to the outgoing wire and check the output from the icm and got nothing, definitely thinking that its shot

Car ia running, it was the cam shaft sensor. Now im having a brake issue. The ABS is causing the rear tires to drag. Any ideas on how to disengage the ABS? Not a huge fan of ABS anyway seeing as i can brake in the snow the right way anyhow
