Jeep starts, goes immediately to maximum RPM.
TL;DR Jeep had head gasket leak, replaced. When reassembled. Jeep
started fine, except for one thing, Without stepping on gas, jeep's idle is at
Redline so bad I have to immediately turn it off.
Full story: I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep's Master Brake
cylinder failed. I replaced it. While bleeding the brake lines I had the Jeep
idling and it developed a head gasket leak. (a lot of white, sweet smelling,
smoke out exhaust pipe). I labeled most parts removed so that everything
was returned to the same location. The exception was hoses(vacuum, etc.)
to the Intake manifold.
Replaced the head gasket, manifold gasket, and Valve cover gasket.
Reassembled.
Started vehicle. The Engine started fine, but immediately started to rev up to
redline, Danger zone, so I killed the engine.
The problem didn't exist before I replaced gaskets. Vacuum hose locations
were not labeled, because I'm an idiot.
Therefore, I suspect the Vacuum hoses may have been connected
incorrectly.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
It could also be a vacuum leak, but i'd like to be sure my hoses are properly
connected first. attached is a picture of current connection. I could shoot a
video and set it to youtube if that would be easier.
