Lift kit modification

Asked by Shaneo78 Oct 12, 2020 at 01:05 PM about the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee limited
"Quadradrive" and I put a 2.5" lift on it yesterday
and now I am hearing a whinning noise that
seems to be coming from the front I am getting
ready to put 2 new front CV Axel's end  because
the passenger side is starting to go bad  so I'm
just going to do both of them at the same time
but I was looking at the front driveshaft coming
out of my transfer case and noticed that the boot
was ripped, my question is do I need to get a
lowering kit for my transfer case in order to keep
the drive shaft in the same position it was when it
was stock or will the 2.5" lift not affect that? I did
a lot of research before doing the work on this
vehicle and there was nothing said about any
modifications to drive shaft or any of that until
you get over 3 in so if anybody out there can you
help me out and answer this question for me or
just give me some tips I would be definitely
grateful.

I'll bet it was fine until you worked on it. Am I correct?

Well I appreciate that educated answer, thank you. I didn't think this was a joke site I guess I was wrong.

The point is if it was okay prior to doing the work, then it must be something you have done to cause the issue.

I understand that! that's why the question was do I need to lower my transfer case in order to put my front & rear drive shaft back to the stock position would that be making a whining noise? everybody modifies their vehicle when there is nothing a matter with it ! And sometimes after modification there's things that go wrong or something else is effected and that's my question could it be the front and rear drive shaft making a winding noise due to it being raised 2"?
