Truck won't start when heater controls don't come on why

Why does my 92 gmc not start when the heat controls
don't come on the rest of the dash is working but not the
heat I've changed the relays and tried everything I could
think of still nothing the truck starts when heat controls
work but won't start when heat controls don't work

I had one like this in my shop, found it to be the ignition switch, replaced the switch and the problem went away. When it happens try slightly turn the key one direction or the other and see if it starts working.

You need to troubleshoot before replacing parts by guessing. If starter relay is not getting signal when u try to start it, trace it back to loose connection or no signal coming out of ignition switch under steering column.
