Engine won't start

Asked by GuruVTKQC Aug 12, 2018 at 05:22 PM about the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the starter on my 05 Dodge Grand
Caravan. In order to get to the top bolt, I
unugged some sort of large black connecter
attached to my transmission. When I was
done, I reconnected it. Now my van will
crank once then stop. Not a click, but one
actual crank. Also, all of the gears are
highlighted on my gear selector. I can
sometimes get my van to start by shifting
through all of the gears and returning to
park. Engine throws no codes. 125,000
miles. What have I done?

You're looking in the right place go back to the connector if it's still packed with grease clean with a knife or small wire brush make sure it snaps together tightly, if it still clicks you need a new trans switch also called a neutral safety switch, it needs to be adjusted after installation some need a special alignment tool but l've never had to use one

That connector goes to the transmission solenoid pack,Make sure the pins are not bent and connector is fully engaged.
