Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Long story short, I have two spare, unchipped keys for my 04 ford taurus se. I have one transponder chipped key for an old 02 ford f150. Can I remove the chip from that key, and attach it to my spare?? I do hope it's as easy as that.

dont remove the chip... u risk damaging it if anything the transponder receiver is in the steering column if anything unscrew the collumn remove bottum pannel take some tape hold it in different locations with spare key in the ignition and when it cranks tape the key to that spot

sorry i didnt read this clearly no u cannot use a chip from car 1 to start car 2 the chips are programmed and emit a frequency the odds of finding to cars in the same city that function on the same frequency are astronomical thus u cannot use transponder a in transponder b vehicle now u can take the car to a locksmith with a tech 2 scanner who can program the car to accept key 2s frequency but that usually requires 1 allready accepted key in the car

Well it's just that my love took my key from me.. He's got real trust issues. Anyway.... if I take the chip from my cars original programmed key, and tape it to the ignition coil, or whereever it should go...that would work to where i can turn the engine with my spare key... pretty much your whole first answer.. ha well thank for the info
