I have a 2003 expedition and hearing noise out of air conditioner compressor when idling and air conditioner is off. Noise goes away when airconditioner is on, is this some thing serious?

Sounds like loose clutch plate on compressor, it will get worse, they cost (ball park price) around $200-$250 to replace
