engine swap compatibility

Asked by Ruth Nov 18, 2018 at 12:59 PM about the 1993 Ford Ranger STX Standard Cab 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Will a 4.0 engine from a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo XJ fit into a 1993 ford
ranger?  I have a 1993 ford ranger that has a rod knocking and I have an
engine that was taken from a 1992 parts jeep...will the parts jeep engine be
compatible with the ford ranger or will there need to be a lot of modifications?
