How can I verify if I have a California Edition Mustang?

Asked by Mustangfan0665 Feb 20, 2018 at 09:09 PM about the 2006 Ford Mustang V6 Coupe RWD

Question type: General

The car says it’s 272 of 400 California Edition on the
dash, however, the trunk decal does not have the
CE emblem, it looks like the reg horse emblem. Not
sure if it was replaced or what happened to that
emblem.
How can we verify for sure if our car is a ca editon?

No need. I can tell you right now that's not a California Special. All California Specials were GT's, so just by it being a V6 it's ruled out. If it were a CS, you would have: leather and suede seats, GT/CS side badging, "California" above and "Special" below the trunk GT logo, a different rear diffuser, front lip splitter......as someone who specializes in Mustangs and is a lifelong collector, that is by no means a CS.

there's only 600 v6 California special mustangs , the way how you tell is by the transmission , pony package , Bullitt rims, they had special colors at the time, the lighting package , the front bumper and rear bumper from the gt the fog lights also gt, the suspension is from the gt 500 and they all have the normal mustang side stripes also look up the Vin number, any one who says they don't exist is ignorant and needs to do more research

The CE (California Edition) was a marketing release in Northern California for (2005-2009) 1 in 400 were made. It was a V6 with extra cosmetic features.added like the GT models... extra chrome , Shaker system, and silver racing stripes, GT shocks, etc. All CE Mustangs have a plate on the dash that says which release you have of 400 made. *This is not the “California Special”, however, this is a very nice and showy car.

The dealership you bought your CE from was supposed to put the CE on the trunk lid .. The most important part of the CE is the dash number with California Edition on it .. My CE is #263 ..
