My Transmission bolts came out after having my clutch fixed how do I put it back together

Asked by Maryjanette Jun 15, 2019 at 12:09 PM about the 1994 Ford Ranger XL Standard Cab 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a new clutch put in my pickup.  I drove home and (luckily made it
home) the pickup made a horrible noise so when I stopped and thought it
was my clutch again.  So I went very slow about a mile to home.  I got under
the pickup and my transmission has come away from the engine/torque
plate. (I think that's what you call it) there are three bolts gone.  I don't know
what to do to put it back together. I don't knot the size bolts or anything. I
guess the person that put my clutch in didn't think I needed my transmission
bolted back together correctly. I definitely don't want to take it back there.

Thank you, I have been arguing with the moron, but since I am a woman he thinks I don't know what I am talking about.

Take out one of the last bolts and match it up , they are rated for strength ,, support the tranny and bolt it up tight 55-65 ftlbs I'm guessing , there's a chance Things may be o.k. after that , I just wouldn't let that mech. touch it ( I don't send food back in a restaurant either ). Or Tow it to a competent mech. to have it fixed , then he can back you up in court .

Thank you I got one of the bolts and got them matched up. I called the mobile Mechanic and he said he will come and help me with putting it back together. Thank all of you for your help.
