Car wont start, security flashing 2001 monte carlo
Asked by Tigwelder1 Jun 08, 2015 at 10:41 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The car wont start at all. At first I checked
alternator, starter, battery and fuses. All are
good then I light tested the ignition wires
and I get power from the ignition switch but
not receivin anything to the ignition wire on
the starter. A buddy of mine suggested
jumping the wire from the switch to the
starter, it now cranks but doesn't want to
turn over. Was working fine on monday then
it shut off when I left to pick up my kid. They
said to check the theft deterrent relay but I
have no idea where that is. If someone can
help that will be greatly appreciated thanks!

MY 2001 MONTE CARLO SS DONT WANNA START I TURN KEY IT CRANKS BUT WONT TURN ON ALL OF A SUDDEN I WAS DRIVING AND IT JUST TURNED OFF ON ME WAS CRANKING LIKE 2 NOTHING DONT KNOW WHAT IT MIGHT BE PLEASE HELP
Make sure you have the ignition lock cylinder replaced - not the ignition switch! The most common cause for the SECURITY light to illuminate on your 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo would be a faulty passlock sensor which is part of the ignition lock cylinder. It is to bad it took so long for you to find that out.Sep 23, 2009
