First, the 1968 was a first year new model production. It is not the best C-3 produced and
had a lot of issues. A car 50 years old may of had the issues fixed. So lets start at $20,000
for a well maintained, good looking and good mechanically running Corvette. Needs paint
and final body work? Drop the price $5 to $8,000. Interior redone? $1000 if just tired. Breaks
and drive train, wheel bearings, shocks, springs and front end suspension? $3,000 minimum
unless you can do the work. Transmission? If everything is stock and you want to keep it
that way, $2,000 on a rebuild. You are down to the $5,000 area, but it will cost about
$20,000 to get it looking new and running sound. As is, offer $4,000 and tell them to get it
up to a $20,000 value, it will cost $15,000 to $20,000. I have a 1969, and I have over
$30,000 in rebuilding it. I have owned it since new. Oh yes, tires, and all the little things.
