2006 Odyssey driver side sliding door will not latch, even in manual.

Asked by Joseph Jan 12, 2020 at 04:12 PM about the 2006 Honda Odyssey LX FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Initially the door, while driving, would occasionally beep while driving. Ended
up getting to the point where when we tried to open the door electronically it
would make around 3 loud, harsh click/beeping sound and the door wouldn't
open. I did the fuse pull, door reset, easy fixes and nothing worked.
(Sidenote: During this time the passenger side had no issues).
We started having the battery dying overnight issue so I'd pulled fuse 7 and
we were using the doors in manual mode. I ended up going to Pull a Part
and getting a new rear latch assembly and installing it. When I went to close
the door now the door won't latch at all and even after resetting the doors
again, it's like there's no power to the latch assembly at all.
I put the old one back in to see if would at least draw power, and nothing.
I'm super frustrated and hoping any of you guys might have a suggestion.
I've read through a lot of threads, but I can't find anything specific to this one.
Even in manual on the passenger side, when I trip the latch it'll close (you
can hear the motor working) then release when I pull the handle. I've gotten
the driver door to latch a time or two, but most of the time I can just close it,
then open it right back up without even using the handle. I'm stumped.
Thanks guys!

Also, and I don't know if this is related, the driver side door won't "lock" in the open position like the passenger door does. So, for example, if we're on a hill with the front end downhill, the door will keep sliding shut on its own.
