Loss of power

Hi all I went out for a drive today with no problems
on my return I stopped and turn the engine off for
about 30 secs when I started it it reved to 2.500
the dash lights were all on so I drove it home it
went into a mode of if I had my foot on the
excellerator it went limp took foot off it drove along
my road but got very slow as I managed to get the
front wheels on the kerb but then died so I got a
jump start it then reved to 2.500 again but after
jump leads were off  I turn it off and started it
again sounded like a dead battery but it's new

Sounds a lot like crank/camshaft postions sensors. They keep track of timing, known to go bad or read incorrectly when they get hot or start going. Sounds like its putting you into limp mode, which basically car can run yes but very crappy. Get your codes run
