VSC Light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Lexus EX350 2008. About 8 months ago my VSC light went on. My car would start to idle and eventually turn off. I took it in and they did a complete tune -up that worked for about 4 months. The light came on again but this time there was no stalling or turning off. I took it in a sensor was replaced. 1 month later light comes on again but now the car is overheating and AC will not work. Took it in and the water pump was melted. That was replaced. Now I have had the car for a week and the heater does not work, blowing only cold air and the car will not start again for at least 1 hour after shutting it off.

That doesn't sound too good but I would definitely check your coolant and make sure they filled it back up after changing your water pump, also your thermostat could be stuck open causing the system to not heat up like it should. Is the car overheating?? Definitely take it back to them and ask for the issue to be fixed completely. Hopefully they will work with you, one other small thing ask them about CTS sensor, or ects sensor, it is an engine coolant temperature sensor. If they are bad your car doesn't know to tell you the engine is overheating and can cause your engine to blow a head gasket which is all bad. Good luck, I hope it is just low coolant or thermostat. They are about 15 or 20 bucks.
