I have 96 grand cherokee, when you reach 55 mph it starts to jerking and then when you let off it smooths out. today when i backed out of my drive and went to put it in drive it died

cloged up fuel filter,or cat converter or crank sensor,is it the straight 4.0 6 cylender.

^^^ +1 ..also check MAP sensor on throttle body(if it had one otherwise clean MAF). Pull DTC (diagnostic trouble codes) with OBD reader
