Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2013 veloster  turbo (auto), 85,000 kms and 6 months out of warranty. Have been told l need a new transmission at a cost of $12,500 just for the part. Dealer has tried to push the warranty and it has been denied by Hyundai, not sure what to do and who to contact next/ Is there anywhere you can appeal the decision ??? But no way l am going to pay that much for a repair. Can't sell it , can't afford to repair it.....Transmissions should last longer than 5 years, it's been well looked after and had all the services at the dealer. Any advise would be great..

Frankly, I have never seen a transmission part, or any other, that cost so much, so I figure that you are not quoting US dollars because you mention kms. In any case, I think the dealer may try to assist you by keep pushing for the warranty. Read your factory warranty book and see what it says about terms, conditions and possible appeals. Contact the Hyundai district office by yourself, and if there is a Consumer Protection Agency contact them as well. And don't forget that you can use the social media to tell them about your problem and about the manufacturer's lack of assistance. Let the dealer know that you are going to use the power of the social media, be firm but not threatening, at all times. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that you will resolve the problem in your favor. Hope this helps. I wish you good luck!

thankyou Jorge. I live in Australia...Just can't believe a transmission can cost that much. I spoke to Hyundai today, They will consider a repair, but only if l take to a repairer ( at my cost ) 100kms away ( $200.00 to freight it there) and pay $1200.00 to have it pulled apart and then send them the quote ,and then they will consider it...... I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place as l can't take it home until it's repaired . Can't drive it, can't sell it !!!!! I will contact consumer affairs tomorrow for advise. Thanks again.
