What year model of the Mazdaspeed3 would you recommend? Overall is the best?

Different tastes and preferences would come into play. If you don't have a budget to meet then of course go for newer with less mileage. Performance of the gen one and gen pu would be considered very similar. The seats in the first generation are more comfortable and you can probably find used upgrade parts a little cheaper as more cars are on the road and owners constantly sell their parts.
