Dodge stalls out!

Asked by oktirem Mar 15, 2013 at 12:54 PM about the Dodge RAM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.9l, 4WD automatic. Its problemis that driving around town and at town speeds it stalls out in between breaking and accelerating. It does not do this on the highway. But I guess you don't do as much breaking on the highway as you would in town. We changed the cam shaft sensor, crank shaft sensor, and used a PCM module. The problem has not been resolved. What could this be? I also have a 1999 Dodge Ram 5l doing the same thing.

With the age and symptoms, it could be a vacuum leak. Check that big hose going to the brake booster. Sometimes the hoses crack and will leak when they get warm. Does it stall at idle too?

I'd take a look at your EGR operaton as these devlish things have wasted more energy in the name of keepin the air clean- the computer does not see it jammed partially open, but your performance does.
