my after market exhaust is burning the plastic that is near the exhaust. what can i put on the plastic to prevent it from burning?

my exhaust has already burnt the side plastic to my truck.  what can i put on the plastic to prevent it from burning further through? thanks..

Hi lightning01, I'm not sure which plastic component you're referring to, but you can purchase what they call "heat shield". If this is on exterior trim that's normally visible this may not work. I would either try altering the plastic trim to provide room for extreme the exhaust heat or try lowering the exhaust with longer hangers. Good luck!
