my 1989 f150 sounds like lifter is knocking real loud can anybody help

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

when I start up it's real loud takes about 20 miles to get softer but it I can still hear it
any help would be great. It's a 5.8 v8  Thanks

Sounds like hydraulic lifters. Try running some engine oil treatment in your engine.

it is your lifters, they may be spaced out and when the piston pumps, your lifter hits your valve and it will make that noise, it also couldn't just be one. you have several on the engine head. same thing happen to me. may need to go get that checked out.
