Was it leaking badly at the ft pump seal.... (torque converter install point). if so sounds like output shaft has excessive play. Can you remove the marks on the torque converter with an emery cloth? Are there grooves you can feel with your fingernail?

if the marks don't disappear with polishing with the fine emory paper, you will probably want to replace it. yes there is a front bushing that the snout rides in and it may need to be replaced along with the seal.
