The indicator is designed to help reduce CO2 emissions through helping drivers increase their vehicles’ fuel efficiency through better operation. Based on a comprehensive determination that takes into consideration such factors as accelerator use, engine and transmission efficiency and speed and rate of acceleration, the Eco Drive Indicator, located on the instrument panel, lights up when the vehicle is being operated in a fuel-efficient manner. The system uses many inputs and the failure of one to report will prevent the dash indicator not to turn on.

Do you mean the Eco Mode dash lamp? Under certain conditions when I push the eco mode button there is no response on the dash. I have found this to occur when the car has not been run for a few months. NOTE: the eco mode functionality is still there. The ventilation fan speed does drop a notch when it the Eco mode is pressed. After a few weeks of driving the car, the Eco mode lamp begins to light for a short time. Finally, it stays on. If anyone can figure out why this happens, I would be amazed. PS: While this is happening on of the slightly curved rectangular lamps fail to light on the right side of the dash. This is the series of small lamps that show real time fuel economy. This too corrects itself after some weeks of driving. It has been happening now for 3 years.

Sruck button. I freed it with a knife and sprayed out the button it works normally again. Dirt and sticky substance from a spilled drink! Ev mode and eco mode were stuck all good now!

I had the same EXACT behavior of the eco lamps as described by GuruXNVZ6 in my 2012 Camry XLE hybrid. Full functionality but no light (and also one of the slightly curved rectangular lights) off. Occurs after the car was not used for 2 or 3 months and all lights begin to function after car is used for two or three weeks. Really weird and never figured it out. Paul H.
