Brakes and rotors 2016 Kia Soul

Asked by Obzfun2 Jan 25, 2020 at 05:34 PM about the Kia Soul

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2016 Kia Soul+ that has 42,000 miles. I am second owner. I am told it
needs brake pads and rotors turned? It is not making any noise. Why the rotors
with only 42 thousand miles?

I personally would not turn rotors today. Do you really need pads? Depending on your brake habits, you could. The brakes don't need to make noise to need replacing, they just might be worn enough that they don't. Is this for state inspection?

if you are in the salt belt area then the rotors can get rusty. I know that Kia and Hyundai brakes do not seem to last like other Makes. I have worked with these cars a fair amount. And like TDolby said, it could be they are getting worn and whoever advised to get rotors turned should update their Mechanics License by a couple of Decades in my opinion
