There is a big nut in the center of the drum do i need to remove that nut before i can take off the drum? Also there seems to be what looks like a washer that covers the nut do i need to push those ends away before i remove the nut?
Many thanks

yes but their is more than a nut, dont push nothing away from nut, take it to a mechanic to replace or check rear breaks.not being a ass,but it sounds like you dont know much about mechanics of a vehicle.dont take a chance on messing with something you dont know about.
Hi Papa, no hard feelings. Based on my question i understand why you said that, i have done rear breaks on a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GL and Mazda 323, so i have some idea as to what the insides look like. Maybe i should upload a picture then you can better understand what i am asking. Another question though, :) that nut probably hold the drum and wheel bearing right? Many thanks Bantan06
ment no offence.yes holds drun and wheel bearing,it should have a cap on it remove, then a carter key remove then a squared piece over nut remove, then remove nut and wheel bearing, then the hub may have to slap it with a hammer, the drum to remove.rember when putting back together on the nut finger tighten it then tighten back off 1/2 turn.
Papa no offence taken, thanks for the reply i got the answer i'm looking for and also discovered that my rear brakes needs to be done. So i'm doing the job soon. Thanks again for your response.
These are known as 'Pack Nuts' . The rear wheel bearings are sealed roller bearings pressed into the rear brake drums. Loosen them with a 27 mm Tube socket (I think that's the correct size) any-clock wise for both rear drums. When tightening them up, torque to about 170Nm. Don't remove the metal cage from these pack nuts.
Thanx for that last response...that what i needed to know
I have just checked that these on the Bantam are Tapered Roller bearings like the Fego and 2008 Ikon. They use Pack nuts as well. All you do is Adjust them the same way as normal nuts with other tapered roller bearing. The Figo and Ikon inner bearings have a section with the Toothed rotor for ABS and the Bantam does not.
Those nuts look this?
So u rekon the torque must be 170...for a bantum 2009? Sure sure....
I see the nuts are slightly different between left and right side...
Sorry, I first checked the Focus Nuts. My mistake. The Focus are torqued to 170 . Not the Ikon and Bantam. The Focus I understand has the seakled bearing and not the Bantam. The Bantam ones should be the same left and right sides. RH Thread.
Are these nuts self locking...there is no split pin to stop it from turning out...i suppose somehow those strange flappy things on the end of the pack nut locks it somehow...hope so...
These nuts are self locking. No split pins . I have just done the rear brakes on my 2008 Ikon which are the same. Another way to remove the drums and hub is to undo the four bolts at the back of the hub that bolt onto the beam. Then the hub and drum come off as one unit.
I found info saying the nut should be torqued to 66 Nm...?
I found mine on You tube. For the Bantam her is a link to the Workshop Manual and wiring diagram : https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1106266/Ford-2002-Bantam.html#manual https://elektrotanya.com/ford_bantam_2002_wiring_diagrams.pdf/download.html
Bantam Rear brake and Drum / Hub specs according to the 2002 Workshop manual
This is out the workshop manual, but I think I will rather make absolutely sure from a Ford Dealer Mechanic . When I spoke to some of the mechanics some time ago, they said to me " Tight".
