SOS Failure
Afternoon. Have a 2007 BMW 650i Convertible. Drove through a nasty rainstorm, and then the radio began going in and out. Then out, phone connection lost, and received the SOS failure message. Checked all radio fuses hoping it blew, but no. Does anyone know of how to confirm its the radio and / or the Amp? Radio removal I can do, Amp under passenger seat I believe. I just want to confirm that the radio / Amp and SOS will re-establish my phone communications, thanks.

I'd follow the black battery cable to where it attaches...must have corroded the connection offering "brown-out" power to the rest of the vehicle~ undo the bolt and wirebrush that spot and the lug too...re-assemble and the chassis will find a strong ground and the error message will be no more~
Thanks, Did check this and the ground is solid (multi-meter too). Tried re-setting the X drive by holding down the Eject Buttons for the CD and DVD, while pressing the Radio Mute button. Same result. I appreciate your help, still hopeful but may be a TCU problem. Drying everything out and hoping for the best.

I have the same issue. Did you get your problem resolved? If so what was the problem?
Water damage due to the drain being clogged inside the top compartment. there are there areas that has drains on each side. If you remove the side panel int he trunk to expose the components, you can see the rubber hose that connects all of the drains on that side. The other side has similar drains. Also sounds like the Satellite receiver has died. Water killed mine also. The amp may be ok, just dry it out good. Same for the FM Module.
