over heating!

hi there, i own a 318ti v plate, had it for a year now, im having problems with it over heating, ive had a new viscous fan fitted and its that bad ive taken my thermostat out so it runs cooler! has anyone any ideas of what it could be? im having to fill my water up every week now but cannot see any leeks! ive checked my oil and my water is not getting into it! please any advise would be much appreciated, thank you kaileigh :)

Hey, It'll be adviseable to have a headgasket test performed, this shouldn't cost any more then a fiver... The garage performing the test will check the compression of the pistons & the coolant mixture will have a dye added to it, which'll change colour if there is an issue.... what could be happening is it's become hot before you've been able to act, so the gasket could've deteriorated, this could cause the compression from a piston to blow out of its chamber & into 1 of the water key ways, it'll usually be the case as it gets warmer.... water pumps are common for failing on these they dont cost much
they dont cost much if you do it yourself. if a shop does the work its going to cost and arm and a leg
BMW shop here in Madison, wi charges over $1k to do a water pump.
wtf i work in a garage n id charge £100 includin parts
have got it fixed now :) they was going to charge me £80 for a new pump! they tested head and pump and they were both ok! so they flushed the system through a few times and fingers crossed its worked! drove it alot recently and no probs! i will jst wait and see when abit of warm weather comes along! still need a thermostat bt thats only a £10 from, german french swedish! thanx guys fot your help much appreciated! x
