I would expect a bad fuel injector lines. Mine sat in a field for a while before I owned it. Mice had built two nests in the spare tire well and under the cowl and had a good meal of my fuel injector lines. To be on the safe side try to turn the cam gear by hand to see if the engine turns smoothly. I also think a new battery and battery leads may be in order depending on if your battery's terminals are corroded. I would change the oil too.

Also do you mean 1978 280Z or a 1987 300ZX? 1979 is the last year for 280Zs before the 280ZX and 300ZXs came after those.
