You do not need to remove the steering wheel. You will have to remove the bezel around the steering colunm, i.e. the plastic trim behind the steering wheel. This should give you access to the steering lock.

remove the cover . disconnect the battery . put into start put a section of cloths hanger or snall screwdriver in the hole on the top about 1/8 dia it will pull right out
