man i wish i knew more about the peugot rally team... i know that peugots are big in Rally... and i have a feeling the 205 is one of the models that hes been apart of it. i know that Colin McRae drew a Peugot for Skoda once. peugots are cool little cars... with a funny name. RIP Colin McRae.. you're greatly missed.
Peugeot is undoubtedly one of the top european car manufacturers, when it comes to little sport cars and mean rally machines! remembered for good are the 205 GTI's, the 106 XSI's, Rallye's and GTI's, the 306 XSI's, S16's and GTI's and the same with the parallel models from the daughter company - Citroen - the Saxo VTR/S, and ZX volcane's about the 205 GTI - it came with a 1.6 version, and 1.9. the 1.9 is similar if not the same as the one in the earlier ZX Volcane's (92-93) It is considered as a raw machine, close in driving feeling to a powerful go kart! Restoring one is a real "Mitzvah" in hebrew (a blessing) :))))))) credit for pic goes to www.psi.co.il - Peugeot-citroen Sport Israel
As you can probably see from previous questions the answer is sort of. The 205 T16 (based on the road going Peugeot's designed by Pinifarinia) was the official Peugeot rally car of the 80's, however after the demise of Group B, the T16 was retired. Peugeot didn't rally with the 205 GTI's, however they are popular with amateur/semi professional rally drivers due to there good power to weight ratio and their easily obtainable and fittable replacement parts. Smaller engined Peugeot 205's are also widly used in auto grass for the same reason
Aswell as the 205 T16's which were undaoubtedly the iconic Peugeot rally car there were also earlier models entered in rallys such as the 504 and 505.
