how do I fix the power steering on a 2008 mazda tribute

Sounds to me like two different problems. The shaking steering wheel is likely broken motor mount(s). As for power steering, I would check the fluid level, and if low, look for obvious leaks around the pump, lines, and rack. If no leaks, you may need to replace the power steering pump.

The problem is a steering control module $1100.00 Mazda is the only one who sells this part.

There is no fluid level to check. It is run by an electric motor as opposed to hydraulics. jkooker is correct. Mine was taken in for the steering control module recall and my power steering has now gone out a year and a half later with only120K miles on the vehicle.

BEST BET IS A MODULE FROM SALVAGE (WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS MARK - IT WENT SHORTLY AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE) HARD TO FIND THOUGH...
