Check to see if all 4 tires are the same size (look on the tire sidewall and verify the same size tire was used on all 4 wheels). Also check the air pressure in the tires as one might be low.
The main crux of my original question was....it cant be mere coincidence that immediately after the dealership changed the tires and balanced them the VSC light comes on. When I called them 2 days after this started the REP stated that it would be $92.00 to check it out. I stated to her that this wasn't an issue until they worked on it and I shouldn't have to pay. I have an appointment tomorrow and am looking for some expert input. all 4 tires are the same. were purchased new from the dealership where we bought the used Rav4. just went out and started car and noted VSC light NOT on. (this is my sons vehicle) as soon as I backed the car up the light comes on. This repeats with each re-try. all 4 tires appear to be adequately inflated. I'm going out shortly and checking again. Thank you for your responses in advance.
If the tires are all the same size and inflated properly then it is possible that when changing tires a wheel speed sensor or associated wiring was disturbed. It is also possible that it is just coincidence, but I would think unlikely. Let us know what you find and best of luck with it.
