My mother-in-law has inherited a 1965 Cadillac sedan, original owner car. We have no idea where to begin thinking about what to ask for it.

I would do some SERIOUS research on this before selling! I personally wouldn't sell it as the value will increase in a few years. Depending on several factors, ie., how many miles, condition of the car overall, body shape, rust, glass, tires, mechanical condition, etc.. I wouldn' take less than $11,000.00 for it. Remember you can always come down on the price, but it's virtually impossible to go up, unless there's some financing going on.
