One Blower motor speed not working

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
In my '02 impala i just noticed on my Blower speed switch the #1 setting is not working but the 2-5 is. I looked in the manual to see if there is a low speed fuse but I didn't see anything.
Any Ideas?

it is usually the blower motor resistor pack that goes bad. That part is located under the HVAC in the front passenger footwell area and is held in by say two screws. I had a similar problem when I used to own a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu where #1 and #2 did not work. The part at a GM dealer is about $25, that was when I purchased back in 5/2004.
I had the same issue with my 02 Impala, but eventually (years), the blower wouldn't shut off at all, even with the car off and key out. It killed the battery unless I unhooked the cables. Replacing the blower motor resistor fixed the issue. Two months later, the blower motor is out (could it have killed the replacement resistor?).

its INEXPENSIVE but best to remove 3 screws holding fan in place to access screws on HVAC resistor control From a low of $13 on up AMAZON and Rock Auto... I find it INCREDULOUS that NO WHERE on FB etc does ANYONE tell us what the value of the OBVIOUS TO THE NAKED EYE resistors are they are EASY ENOUGH to remove and replace at PENNIES on the dollar JESUS
