Other than the fact that it's pretty slow and needs to be on a strict maintenance schedule, it's a great choice. We bought a new, 90 Audi 90 and drove it 180,000 miles before someone knocked the front end off with a Ranger. (Ironically) We got the timing belt and water pump changed out at 75,000 and 150,000 miles and other than that, everything else was standard maintenance. The biggest difference between an Audi 90 and an 80 is that the 90 has a 2.3L 5 cylinder that makes 130 HP and the 80 has a smaller 4 cylinder engine. She will want a better stereo. The Bose from those years was awful and can not be repaired. They must be replaced. You will want better lights for her. (unless you live in Europe) Audi had yet to get the hang of the old tech lights required by the US government, but I bought the best bulbs on the market and polished her headlight lenses for her. She did fine as long as she kept it under 70 MPH at night. (She over ran her lights if she went faster,) The car was very well put together and didn't have any rattles and squeaks after 12 years on the road. Very high grade steel was used in the body and in had zero rust. And finally, it saved her life in the crash. Despite it's shortcomings, it could be an excellent car for your daughter. I wouldn't hesitate to put my daughter in one.
