if it smokes bad then u need a rebuild if ut doesnt smoke that bad then its fine. rotarys burn oil by design
depends on what kind of smoke its blowing it either be your oil rings or a bad water pump
If it's white smoke and it smells a bit sweet it's likely coolant. Black smoke is normally an extremely rich running engine. Blue smoke would be excessive oil consumption, but a little blue smoke on startup is normal as the oil collected in the combustion chambers during the engine downtime is burnt off.
hey kid its a rotary not a conventional piston engine. it doesnt have an oil ring
True, but it does have oil seals on the rotors.
Oil control rings are shot, sadly, the motor will have to be pulled down.
maybe you should do some homework!
truth is there are a few deff things that could cause this issue. most common witch includes your symptoms would be coolant seal. get on youtube and learn how too do the champagne test. take a smell of the exhaust on start-up for sweetness and watch coolant fluid levels and overflowing and/or pressure build-up in reservoir. my guess is your prolly looking at a kit-c gasket rebuild. good price at atkinsrotary.com or if your looking to spend a little more and replace engine NA or Turbo, then check out jspecauto.com
and Zachary. you may be in school and may have read up on rotary, but please, at least break a nail or 2 before you start getting pissed off... remember, your still in the stage of theorizing.
