Engine Replacement Options and Considerations

Asked by jayatl69 Aug 31, 2010 at 02:17 PM about the 1987 Jeep Wrangler

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1987 Jeep Wrangler 6 Cylinder with manual transmission.  I want to replace the engine.  There are a number of Jeep cherokee at a local salvage with engines.  Ones that are in Cherokees with a manual transmission are all I am considering.  What model years would be the easiest to install from the Cherokee to a Wrangler and or other considerations should I look for besides a 6 Cylinder and a generally good shape engine.

Amc 360 from wagoneers were good motors. being as how it is an eighty seven you don't have to worry about emissions so you could even put in a carbuerated motor.
