I personally favor: Shell, Sunoco, & BP . . . N that order. Stay away from the smaller franchises w/ the 2 or 3 cent lesser gas prices; they may harm U N the long run. Most brands don't put additives N their 87 octane, but Shell does. I currently use 89 octane, but add a complete fuel system cleaner after each oil change.
I am glad you said "I personally favor" as there is no technical proof that any of those three have a significant advantage over other brands such as Chevron, Texaco Sunoco etc. Personally, I use Murphy USA as it is an American oil company that uses American drilled Oil, refined in America and employes Americans. I have used it in Jags (3), Chrysler, AMG 55, Infinities (2), Lexus (2) and more. They all ran faultless. Back when I was racing I used Sunoco as it was what was available. It depends on what brand is in your area. I used Shell in the 60's until I did a valve job on my P1800 Volvo, only to find the head and pistons covered in SULPHER, bright yellow sulpher. So, what additives do they use? In today's technology, there is so little difference in the major brand names as to make it almost pointless as to which to use. Personally, I say "Buy American'
