Stuck in 4th

My 2000 Dodge ram 1500 is stuck on 4th
gear. How can I get it unstuck?

Automatic? They have a common problem with the transmission control module/valve body that's within the transmission itself, not just the Ram but alot of Chrysler/Dodges of that vintage into the early 2010

First check to make sure your clutch fluid is topped up, even if it is flush it with new fluid as water that builds up will boil in the line while hot and not disengage the clutch. Still no joy "kick" the clutch pedal on and see if the clutch will disengage, if so seals in the master or slave cylinders are worn out (you can buy the pair as an assemly with the line). Other cause could be the clutch fork has bent or worn out, the throwout bearing has blown up or the clutch disk itself has come apart. Grab a friend and try rocking the truck back and forth while trying to pull it out of gear, use same friend to verify clutch slave cylinder is pushing the fork while you're pushing (or kicking) the pedal
