1978 thunderbird

Question type: General
I have a 1978 Ford Thunderbird, with
no top. What are my options? Can I
add either a landau top or can it be
fitted with a convertible top

Your question is a little unclear. Do you have a convertible with a missing top or do you have a hard top/landau top? As I recall, late 70s Tbirds were either T tops (with a landau rear quarter), called "T Roof convertibles" or they were hard tops. Perhaps what you are missing are the T Tops? If so, you will have to join a TBird or Ford forum and ask around for parts, someone might have a set they are willing to part with.

Hi KenF, Sorry for the confusion. I have only just came into possession of the thunderbird recently and it’s in Brisbane while I’m working Melbourne. I am think it’s missing a Tornau top. Circling the uncovered area is a trim Allen keyed every 200mm or so. Thinking that’s what it is. I will have a better look when I return home in a few weeks. Then take your advise on more specific forum. Thanks heaps for your reply.
The missing material is vinyl, the edges were covered by trim, look on the door jamb for a trim tag, or pull the data sheet from under the rear seat, all roof codes are two digits, the first digit should be a "Y", which designates "Valino Grain Vinyl, 1/2 roof style", the second letter of the code give the color.
