There is a fuel pump relay that sits on the engine side of the firewall, on the driver's side of the AC unit. it has a harness going in with 5 wires, one of which is a prime connector that does not connect to anything when in running order. I don't remember all the colors, but orange is power and gray is to fuel pump.
fuel pump realy on the bottem of the truck behind the driver door
on that car you have fuse links for a fuel pump relay
in fuse box the ECM fuse works the fuel pump on the 89 modle
where is the fuel relay switch is at on a 1989 chevy blazer 4.3 liter engine please help me
skyler and papa are the most helpful. In the case of my 89 GMC Suburban 2500, I used the prime connector to activate a relay for twin electric fans to help cool a new radiator and suddenly both the fans didn’t run and the truck wouldn’t fire. A bit of starter fluid gave another clue (instantly fired up for a few seconds then motor died). Found a different switched lead for the twin fans and checked the ECM fuse---- visual inspection appeared intact, but being suspicious I checked continuity and it was sketch. Put in a new fuse and fuel pump came on and engine fired up as normal. Learned a few lessons here----one surprising one is never trust a visual-only inspection of a fuse for one. There are others but thanks Skyler and Papa---local mechanic was too busy for advice and I don’t blame him---glad he’s working and busy. thanks guys. JV
