Reliability 2004

Asked by sroseme Feb 15, 2009 at 11:50 AM about the 2004 Toyota Prius

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I have a beat up 2004 with 90,000 miles & an extended warranty.I want a plugin. Any recurring problems with the 2004 I should
know about if I decide to wait for the plugin? Or buy a 2010 and convert($12k sounds like a lot for conversion)? And best guess when plugin will be available?

Personally, I would go with the 2010 Prius. There are alot of safety features that Toyota has introduced on the Prius that I would go for. Plus, there are some styling features that they have changed that I like. If you have a good dealer, then, you should be able to get a really good trade in on the Prius that you have currently.

I'd wait for the plug-in, my step-dad has a 2005 that has to be pushing 200k and he really hasn't had to do much to it at all other than brakes/tires/filters, etc...what 'recurring problems' are you referring to? Unless ur in dire need of a new car (why is it so beat up at only 90k?) I wouldn't spend money on a new vehicle unless it was one you really wanted...thought I read the plug-ins were going to be available sometime this year?
