Help on fuel issues

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed the fuel filter on my truck, i hear the pump priming for a couple seconds, when i turn it off i have to wait 5 seconds to turn it on again so the pump will activate. it started right up this morning, then died, i had my girlfreind turn the key as i watched the fuel injectores, theres no fuel coming out. I'm hoping its not the pump, where do i start looking for an issue? the fuel filter was black as night. Could my fuel pump assembly be clogged? Anything you guys can tell me would be great!

How do I go about fixing that? Would I have to replace the fuel lines?

This is not a smarts question, but did you put on the filter the correct way? There should be an arrow pointing in the direction of the fuel flow. If you have access to an air pump, try removing the filter and then connect it from above and blow the line backwards. If it flows easy and clear, with no gunk coming out, it may be in the fuel delivery system at the injectors. That will be a lot of work, but you can blow out the lines also from the injector connections. Be careful, you are blowing gas, and no smoking when doing it. If the lines and injectors are clear, it may be in the gas tank or lines from them. Have fun.
