oil pressure gauge goes up/down sometimes, and engine sounds different when it happens

truck drives normally, then gauge goes bonkers and engine noise occurs

Sounds like the oil pump may be taking a crap.... hook up a mechanical gauge to the oil pressure sending unit hole and read from there at idle....... may be to late if it is making noise though

My 02 Chevy S10 will stay a little below 40 and when I give it has it will go up and go down and go to 0 and it will run just fine
