2007 Chevy cobalt 2.0 overheated

Asked by Misty Jun 23, 2021 at 12:48 AM about the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2007 Chevy Cobalt overheated it didn't shut
off and to my knowledge it didn't run rough. My
daughter shut it off and called me and when we
try to restart it it tried to turn over but wouldn't
completely start. Is there a safety precautions
stopping it from starting? Do I need to reset it by
disconnecting the battery? Any and all
information and help is appreciate it

Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Is it full of coolant? Crankcase oil ok? Do the cranking rpms sound faster than normal? If so, maybe no compression? Hopefully no internal engine damage? Have helper crank it while you check for spark, check proper fuel pressure--fuel injector pulse--applicable trouble codes, the basic checks. good luck
