Vacuum rating for 1978 Camaro brake booster

Asked by Guru9T5JWH Mar 16, 2021 at 12:20 PM about the 1978 Chevrolet Camaro

Question type: General

I installed a 12volt vacuum pump to supply vacuum directly to my power brake
booster. This pump produces 26 inches of vacuum. It originally had 20 inches
of vacuum until I swapped out the camshaft. Is this new 26 inches too
much?...will it hurt the booster? (1978 Z28 Camaro)

1 Answer

I would see if the vacuum can be adjusted or if you can install some sort of regulator. I would think excessive vacuum would make the brakes hypersensitive.
