Can an corroded evap pipe be repaired with fiberglass mat?

Asked by Larry1697 Mar 11, 2020 at 03:59 PM about the 2003 Mitsubishi Galant

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have an Mittsubshi Galant of which supposively
has a corroded evap pipe from tank to engine
causing the very small evap leak code.
Nevertheless, the part is discontinued making for
the part impossible to be replaced. Thus, my
question is there any alternatives to fixing the
corred leaky pipe an repair shop can perform? It
was recommended to me it's a low pressure pipe
to fix it with a fiberglass mat. Which leads me to
my next question is that an reasonable/doable
possible alternative. For the next several months I
am just leaving it as it is no biggy as it relates to
performance but it's due for inspection Feb of
2021 so I like to just know am I going to have to
junk the thing just of the nonsense of the part
being discontinued of is there an possible
alternative as I said before to fix the issue!

I am sure you can buy metal tubing and bend your own pipe but you can probably also just use gas hose.
