If you're looking to replace your transmission filter I wouldn't bother because there isn't a serviceable one. How ever there is side valve body cover on the front parallel to your radiator with a gasket that can be replaced if youre having leaking issues, but that's about it, to replace the filter you have to dissasemble the entire transmission it is located at the bottom. My recommendation if anything just get it flushed and don't worry about your filter its just not worth the $500-$1000 to replace a $20 filter

If you look at your transmission on the right, and then over to the inside front of your radiator, directly across from the radiator is the "side" valve body cover, you can see it easier from underneath, my 01 cougar leaked there as well.. you may be able to drop the radiator out an move hoses out of your way to get at it. otherwise you'll have to pull the motor an trans up to do it if you have the tools to do so.

It's right on front of the transmission right in front of your radiator
